JoSAA counseling for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs & GFTIs started today

Ahuja informed that JoSAA counseling has started from 10 am today (September 12) for more than 620 programs of a total of 114 engineering institutes of IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.  This year this counseling process will be completed in six phases till October 21.  Students have been given the option to fill the choices of colleges from September 12 to 21.  The seat allotment for the first round will be released on September 23, students will have to report online this year by uploading the required documents after the seat allotment.
How to do Choice Filling
Ahuja said that the students have been given the option of choice filling only once, so students should fill the choice of a maximum number of colleges in the decreasing order of their priority.  Students can get an idea of the trend of choosing colleges by looking at the opening and closing ranks of the colleges of the previous years.  Students, according to their rank and interest, should include the college branches ranked below the closing rank of the previous years in the college priority list. Before filling out the colleges in JoSAA counseling, make a list of your priority colleges on paper and fill it out online only after assessing it so that there is no possibility of a mistake.  Before locking the college choice to the students, you must do a complete check because after locking it will not be possible to change it.
Which branch will be available in which IIT on which rank’?

Amit Ahuja told that after the result of JEE-Advanced, now the biggest curiosity among the students and parents is the selection of colleges and branches. Every student wants the desired branch with a good IIT. Students whose All India rank is under-100, they are likely to get computer science in top IIT Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, and Madras. If you look at the first choice of the students, then the CS branch of IIT Mumbai gets closed for the top 60 AIR Ranks. After this, students give second priority to the CS branch of IIT Delhi. The third priority is given to the Computer Science branch of Kanpur and Madras. Between 100 to 500 rank, MNC of Delhi, Kanpur, Electrical branch of above four IITs, and CS of Kharagpur can be found. Between 500 to 1000, there is a possibility of getting core branches of BHU, Roorkee, Hyderabad, CS of Guwahati, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kanpur. Students securing ranks between 1000 to 4000 can get computer science in Gandhi Nagar, Indore, Rupar, Mandi, Jodhpur, Dhanbad, Patna, Bhubaneshwar, and other branches in addition to computer science branches in Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur IITs Mechanical, and Chemical branch. There is a possibility of getting into civil, aerospace, production, etc. Between 4000 to 8000, students can get admission in Civil, Chemical, Metallurgy in IIT Roorkee, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Hyderabad, Varanasi, and Lower Branches in IIT Mumbai, and CS in IIT Delhi, Kanpur, Madras, Palakkad, Tirupati, Goa, Dharwad, Bhilai, and Jammu. Students securing ranks between 8000 to 12000 can get core branches at IIT Ropar, Mandi, Indore, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, and Dhanbad as well as other branches of the old seven IITs such as Biological Science, Naval Architecture, Mining Engineering, polymer science, and ceramic engineering. Students who get rank between 12000 to 15000 are likely to get other branches of new IITs like Palakkad, Tirupati, Goa, Dharwad, Bhilai, and Jammu. The chances of getting an IIT branch at the above rank vary by category. Also, the 20 percent female pool quota given to girl students brightens their chances of getting a branch in the above IIT ranks far below.

Ahuja said that such students, whose JEE-Advanced All India rank is far behind, can apply to IIPE Visakhapatnam, Rajiv Gandhi Petroleum, IISER, and IIST on the basis of JEE-Advanced. The application process for all these institutes has already started.
