JEE Advanced 2020 Official Exam Schedule, Eligibility, Pattern, Seat Matrix, Syllabus released

The most prestigious examination of the country JEE Advanced 2020 will be conducted by IIT Delhi this year. Recently, the JEE Advanced website (jeeadv.ac.in) has been revamped accordingly. The exam will be conducted on 17 May 2020 for admissions to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the 23 IITs. IIT JEE Advanced will be a computer-based test that is conducted by the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee under the aegis of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

On the basis of the JEE Advanced 2020 ranks, students are eligible for admission to Top IIT colleges of the country. This year, 250,000 JEE Main qualified candidates will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2020.

According to the reports, this year, JEE Advanced will be conducted in the USA for the first time. For this purpose, a new center will be open in San Francisco for interested students.

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern

The JEE Advanced exam consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates are required to clear the JEE Main 2020 cut-off to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2020 exam. The marking scheme for JEE Advanced enables the candidate to score full, partial or zero marks.

The application process is online and the entrance test is computer-based. The application form for JEE Advanced exam 2020 is expected to release in the first week of May. The JEE Main qualified students need to fill the application form and pay the fees. Admit Card for the JEE Advanced can be downloaded in the second week of May.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who wish to appear for JEE Advanced 2020 are advised to check the eligibility criteria before proceeding with the application process. Candidates who do not fulfill the required conditions will be disqualified from the examination process. Here are the  JEE Advanced eligibility criteria by the candidate:

  • Age Limit – General category candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995. Relaxation of 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD category.
  • Qualifying Examination – Should have passed 10+2th standard qualifying (or equivalent) examination with 75% (General & OBC Candidates) or 65% (SC, ST & PwD) in 2019. Those who are appearing for the exam in 2020 will also be eligible for JEE Advanced.
  • Number of Attempts – For JEE Advanced, the candidates would be able to attempt the examination two times in two consecutive years.
  • Should have qualified JEE Main examination
  • Prior Admissions – The candidates should have never taken admission in an IIT irrespective of whether they continued the programme or not or just accepted the seat by reporting at the center. The candidates who have earlier joined any IIT but had subsequently canceled their admission will also not be termed eligible for JEE Advanced.
