Coolie’s son Kheraj to become a Doctor

Kheraj Coolie son to become doctor from ALLEN KotaJazbe Ko Salam : For a poor coolie at Jodhpur Railway Station Platform named Jugatram who has been working hard day and night from last 8 years to teach his son, it is almost like a dream comes true as his son Kheraj qualified in AIPMT 2015.

In the words of Kheraj, “My father works as a coolie at Jodhpur Platform earning a wage of  Rs 100-150 per day. Even though sometimes he returns home empty-handed, he is still ready to work hard the next day for me. We hail from a small village Sarnu Simnaji near Barmer. My mother Nauji Devi is illiterate and works as a labourer. While I was in my 8th class, and studied in the village public school, there was no electricity in the house and so I used to study in the light of the fireplace. I used to go to my Maternal Grandfather’s place at the time of exams to study. Due to poverty, we still do not have electricity at home. I have grown up watching my father working and sweating hard for my sake. My father is a BA, Bed but when he couldn’t get a job, he chose to work as a coolie on Jodhpur platform to run the household expenses. Being the only son I was brought to Jodhpur for further studies. We lived in a rented room where I completed my 12th. Whatever money he could earn, he would spend it all on my education.

His only dream was to see me become a Doctor. I was promised by him that I would be sent to Kota for further coaching if I secure 75% marks in my 12th. Watching him sweat hard in poverty I worked hard and secured 79% in my 12th Rajasthan board. I took admission in classroom coaching for medical entrance examinations at ALLEN. Papa’s fellow coolies helped us by lending some money. ALLEN brought me closer to realizing my dream by giving me Scholarship. It has been a great challenge studying amongst the students coming from different parts of the country which has helped me improve. Here we even learn good values. After my first attempt in AIPMT 2014, I secured 18,500 rank but I did not lose hope. In the next year my enthusiasm just doubled when I was given a scholarship of 50% at ALLEN. I continued working hard to make my Father’s dream come true. I then won a Silver Medal Silver for securing position amongst Top 20 in institute’s test. Finally, I was able to bag All India Rank -285 under OBC category and 127 position in the state in AIPMT 2015, my happiness knew no bounds!”

According to Kheraj, he is hoping to get admission into MBBS course at SMS Jaipur or Government Medical College Jodhpur on the basis of his state rank.

When the news of his selection broke, his villagers distributed sweets and the fellow collies of his father celebrated by raising him up in their arms. Jugat Ram proudly stated that he couldn’t do much even after studying BA, Bed but he is glad that he could make his son a Doctor while working as a coolie…

Spent the entire year in uniform

As I have watched poverty from very close, I have learned to live with pride. My only goal was to fulfill the dream of my father. I never had any money to buy new clothes for myself, so I spent my entire year at ALLEN in my 4 sets of uniform. When I came to Kota and saw how various students from villages are studying here diligently, it was a great motivation for me. Now even after becoming a Doctor, I will never be able to forget the pain of the poor. My teachers here have been my biggest mentors. I gave every test at ALLEN which prepared me for the final competition and helped me secure a good rank.

Result of the Father’s labor

Kheraj followed his goals working on the ideals of “Sanskar se Safalta” which made him realize his Father’s dream. At ALLEN Career Institute, we are committed to assist every underprivileged talented student by providing them scholarships under our Corporate Social Responsibility, who is ready to work hard to achieve his/her goal. We are proud of all the poor children and will continue to fund their studies in the future as well, as and when required.
