Nothing can stop a Solider & a Student – CRPF Commandant Chetan Cheeta said at ALLEN Career Institute

If death strikes before I prove my blood, I swear I will kill death and yes, I did it

CRPF commandant Chetan Kumar Cheetah, who successfully fought death after taking nine bullets during an encounter with terrorists in Kashmir motivated students at Allen Career Institute. Chetan Cheetah along with his wife, father, brother and children interacted with the students of Allen Kota Coaching on December, 01 2017.   The whole environment was filled with the feeling of patriotism. It was an honour for the students and employees to hear about the bravery from the man himself. The session started with the lightening of lamp and a short movie dedicated to Chetan.

Speaking on the occasion Naveen Maheshwari, Director of Allen Career Institute said “It is an immense pride for Allen to have Chetan cheetah with us. After recovering from his injuries, it is for the first that he has visited his birth place, Kota. I am also glad to know from Chetan himself that he was the ex-student of Allen Career Institute in 1991-92. Cheetah’s courage and his act of bravery in Bandipore stood out as a great source of inspiration to us.

He has been awarded the Kirti Chakra, the second highest peacetime gallantry medal, on the eve of Independence Day for his brave exploits against terrorists in Kashmir. The Commandant of the 45 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), sustained multiple wounds during an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district. It was on February 14, 2017 when Chetan got information from the Jammu and Kashmir police about the terrorists hiding in the village, he did not waste time. Chetan did not wait for his force and was in the forefront of the operation. The militants had heavy arms and ammunition and fired AK-47s. He had suffered bilateral upper limbs fractures, bullet injuries in his head and lost his right eye during the bloody encounter.

Addressing students Chetan cheetah said “After getting hit by so many bullets, I am sitting here and talking to you it seems that there is something left to be done yet”. It was my strong willpower and love for my nation which helped me to survive 9 bullets and win the battle of life and death.

Love your life and never give up says Chetan cheetah to the students

He is a living example who said I am rocking when asked how he is doing by the doctors. He also mentioned that it is very rare that a commanding officer gets injured, so he gave a message to others that terrorists injured him physically but failed to break his confidence.

Chetan further said, he is frequently asked how you are still alive after taking such severe injuries and his answer is that the terrorists missed the target. He motivated the students to face the difficulties with positivity. During the interaction he said that he wants to go back to Kashmir after regaining his functionality. It was his values and beliefs which motivated him.

Chetan answered several questions asked by students. Students asked him how to practise determination in their lives, cheetah answered, “The students should hope for the best and prepare for the worst situations, we should know how to handle and control the situations”.His greatest inspiration was to come back and live again. He asked students to love life and also guided them to follow their mission and achieve their goal.

He further added that, during my school days I used to run away from studies but had a keen interest in sports, army changed my life. I have faced many challenges and fought in militant and naxal affected areas, it was my love for life that gave me strength to fight the challenges. When asked about living life away from home he said that during the induction program in army, they were taught about how to eat, how to interact with others and they have to unlearn all the things from the past and learn new ways. Students who are living away from home should learn new things and should be determined for their aim

When asked, only thing that stressed him was having his cobra battalion in jeopardy, as malaria was an epidemic that time in Maharashtra. Students are not used to handle stress; they should become independent enough to have a self-realisation which would help them to tackle any situation. Students should have discipline in life and be matured enough to complete their tasks and achieve success. Our social values and strengths will help students to fight pressure and stress. He asked the students to respect the elders and their decisions.
