Admissions to AFMC, Now through AIPMT

Admissions to Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) for undergraduate medical (MBBS) course will now be done on the basis of the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) 2014, going top be conducted on May 4 by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Candidates will have to register separately online for AFMC in March-April.

Until 2012-13, admissions to AFMC were done through a separate All-India Entrance Test. It then agreed upon joining the Medical Council of India’s National Eligibilty-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) scheme from the 2013-14 academic year for admissions to both undergraduate and postgraduate (PG) courses but the Supreme Court scrapped NEET.

The confirmation came from the Air Marshal D P Joshi, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services on Wednesday 5th February 2014.

In 2014, Admissions for PG Courses will be effected through the All India PG Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE). After qualifying, candidates have to apply to AFMS institutes online. The counselling is also proposed to be online, an AFMC official said.

The process for submission of online applications for the AIPMT 2014 has already been completed. Admit cards will be issued in April while the AIPMT results will be declared in the first week of June.
