2 students of ALLEN to represent India in 47th International Chemistry Olympiad

2 classroom students from ALLEN have been selected to represent the country in the final round of 47th International Chemistry Olympiad.

Kshitij Garg and Piyush Kabra, from ALLEN’s classroom program have successfully been selected in the team of 4 students to represent India in the final round of 47th International Chemistry Olympiad to be held in Azerbaijan Baku’s city from 20th to 29th July 2015.

Conducted in 5 rounds

Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education based at Mumbai, conducts a tough National level Chemistry Olympiad in 5 rounds in which around 40000 students from classes 11th and 12th participated this year where 700 students were selected for the 2nd round. Out of these 700, only 36 students were selected for the orientation camp which was conducted at Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education, Mumbai from 26th May to 5th June 2015. After 10 days of Lectures followed by Theory & Practical tests, only 4 students were selected to represent our country for the International Chemistry Olympiad- 2015.

Before departing for the International round on 4th July, the team would learn the final tricks and tips in a Pre-Departure Camp. A teacher would also accompany them to Azerbaijan.

Learned Practical Skills

As per Piyush Kabra, after learning the important practical skills in chemistry, he would now give his best shot to bag gold medal for his country. He has secured 97% in 12th board examinations this year. Piyush has also been an NTSE scholar in class 10th and won a KVPY fellowship too. He secured 280 marks in JEE-Mains this year whereas his score in BITSAT 2015 was 394. He aspires to do research in Mechanical Field preceding his selection in IIT.

On the other hand, Kshitij Garg has secured the highest 442 marks in BITSAT 2015 out of 450. He has been an NTSE and KVPY Scholar. This year he secured 95% marks in 12th boards, along with a score of 315 in JEE Main 2015. He was also selected for the Orientation Camp of Astronomy and Chemistry Olympiads while in 11th class.
